The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll contribute to the design and development of state-of-the-art machinery and automated systems. This varied role involves working closely with clients to deliver bespoke automation solutions, from conceptual design to project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing conceptual designs and creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings in line with industry standards.
- Collaborating with customers to refine solutions, ensuring that each project meets specific requirements.
- Producing accurate bill-of-materials and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
- Working with cross-functional teams to obtain necessary approvals and ensure designs meet customer specifications.
- Occasionally visiting client sites, which may require overnight stays.
The Person
- You'll need a strong background in mechanical engineering, with at least 2 years of experience in designing automated machinery.
- A mechanical engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, Degree, etc.).
- Min 2 Years Experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role.
- Experience in designing any of these – Special Purpose Machinery, Conveyors, Material/Mechanical/Bulk Handling Equipment, Heavy Engineering/Fabrication or similar related products or industries to these.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks is preferred) is essential, and familiarity with PDM Vault and ERP/MRP systems is highly beneficial.
- A hands-on approach to testing concepts and solving complex design challenges.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
