Position: Structural Engineer (Building Consultancy)

Location: Southeast / London Projects (Field‑Based)

Salary: £40,000+ DOE (Flexible depending on experience)

We are currently representing a market‑leading, digital‑first structural surveying consultancy with a strong UK presence, seeking a Structural Engineer, with experience in Structural Surveys to join their expanding Building Consultancy division covering the Southeast and London projects.

You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality inspections, diagnosing structural issues, and providing clear, commercially aware remedial recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake structural inspections across residential, commercial, and heritage buildings
  • Diagnose defects including subsidence, movement, fire and storm damage
  • Produce live digital reports on‑site, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide remedial specifications and technical recommendations
  • Manage and contribute to insurance claim reporting processes
  • Liaise with insurers, clients, and contractors to ensure service excellence
  • Maintain high standards of technical delivery aligned with KPIs and SLAs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within a digital‑first environment

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in structural inspections / defect diagnosis
  • Strong knowledge of building pathology and structural damage mechanisms
  • Experience working on insurance‑related surveys (highly advantageous)
  • Understanding of both traditional and non‑traditional construction methods
  • Excellent IT skills, comfortable using digital reporting tools / tablets
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently across a regional patch
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Working towards or holding professional membership (MIStructE, MICE, MRICS or similar)
  • Experience with historic buildings
