Job Description
The Graduate Rotating Equipment Engineer will be part of the Phillips 66 PREP graduate programme, a structured multi‑year development journey that provides high‑potential graduates with real accountability from day one, rotations across key business areas, hands‑on project ownership, and direct exposure to senior leaders. Through a blend of technical training, professional development and mentoring, PREP accelerates growth into a well‑rounded energy professional ready to make a meaningful impact on the business and the future of lower‑carbon energy. The role includes participation in our IMechE accredited MPDS scheme, designed to facilitate rapid progression to Chartered Engineer status.
Responsibilities
- Focus on long‑term reliability improvements, justifying and recommending projects and equipment enhancements.
- Set optimal repair scopes for shutdowns to ensure full market capture during the next mission time.
- Provide technical support to operations, troubleshooting discipline equipment issues and recommending correct action.
- Understand, evaluate and forecast equipment degradation mechanisms to decide future repair scopes.
- Evaluate found equipment condition, perform fitness‑for‑service calculations (hand calculations or finite‑element analysis) to ensure equipment is fit for service.
- Re‑rate discipline‑specific equipment for potential increased production capacity.
- Gain appreciation of non‑discipline equipment and understand roles of other departments in a complex 24/7 refinery.
