SPTS wafer processing solutions include market‑leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry‑release etch, PVD, PECVD, and MVD. These technologies support R&D, pilot production, and volume production environments. The division is headquartered in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America, and Asia‑Pacific.

Job Description / Preferred Qualifications

As part of the Equipment Engineering and Development Group, you will provide automation solutions to integrate SPTS process systems into customer semiconductor fabrication factories worldwide. You will be an experienced Electrical/Electronic Design Engineer with a detailed understanding of electrical and electronic design, working closely with other specialists to meet tight deadlines in a highly regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical and electronic control and interface design
  • Electrical assembly design
  • Design of electrical enclosures using Solid Edge
  • Wiring harness design
  • AC/DC power distribution circuit design
  • Analog and digital circuit design
  • RF circuit design
  • Fault finding and problem solving
  • Designing critical safety circuits to comply with EN13849
  • Technical report writing
  • Producing engineering drawings, build, and test guides

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in an electrical/electronic design role
  • Strong understanding of machinery safety regulations and EU standards (EN60204, EN13849)
  • Understanding of UL/NFPA regulations
  • Experience designing safety circuits
  • AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent experience
  • 3D CAD experience is desired

  • Flexible work ethic and initiative
  • Strong analytical and fault‑finding skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to mentor junior engineers
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
