The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK – creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time. What You'll Be Doing

Overall accountability for successful project delivery, including initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/closeout, operating as a change agent that provides management, leadership and inspires a multi‑disciplinary team to achieve a common goal.

Health & Safety

  • Understand the Zero Harm Culture, know the 4 Golden Rules and lead by example, adhering to them and briefing these to direct reports.
  • Adopt the highways operating model and mantra Safe Predictable Construction, promoting and directing the team in the Solutions, Clear the Way and High Productivity Construction and its link to H&S.
  • Ensure the requirements of the security management plan are understood and implemented by the site team.
  • Input into solutions phase Temporary Works options and solutions and assist with the buildability review of designs.
  • Input into the production of Work Package Plans, complete H&S Engagement Tours and contribute to a positive H&S culture and behavioural based safety initiatives.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

  • Actively participate in the Performance Development Review process (PDR) and ensure PDRs are carried out for direct reports.
  • Use PDR output to identify training and coaching needs and implement findings for personal development and project goals for you and your reports.

  • Ensure adherence to scope, information and configuration management plans.
  • Ensure reports provide relevant information which enables decisions to be made that are informed, cost‑effective and in line with overall strategy.
  • Ensure scope and package assignment supports the team in coordinated working.

Quality

  • Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification.
  • Accountable for KPIs in line with project objectives and monitor performance.
  • Ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings.
  • Lead working groups and work with OLT on focused improvement areas.
  • Ensure that a culture of Right First Time is adopted in the supply chain and enterprise partners.

Qualifications

  • Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery.
  • Experience in implementing safe systems of work.
  • Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts.
  • Proficient in commercial and project management communications.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organisation.
  • Effective team management skills that empower, influence and inspire others to build effective teams.
  • Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Able to undertake work in high‑pressure situations.
  • Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
  • A record of a solutions‑based approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision among the team.

Desirable

  • Experience of working on a variety of project types.
  • Member of a professional management body, e.g. APM.
  • Proficient on O365.
  • Holds a current driving licence.
  • Attend and contribute to industry events.
