Job title: Central Operations Lead

Department: Central Operations

Hiring Manager: Head of Client Operations

About Y TREE

We are a rapidly growing WealthTech business that is re‑defining how individuals and families connect and engage with their money. We provide our clients with control over their personal finances, enhancing their ability to achieve their financial and life aspirations.

We are harnessing sophisticated portfolio analytics, innovative behavioural psychology and cutting‑edge UX/UI to create a revolutionary experience and transformational outcomes for our users. The business was founded in 2016 by three successful entrepreneurs and business‑builders with diverse experiences and skill‑sets in Technology, Corporate Advice and Investment Management and is backed by some of Europe’s leading investors.

Role Overview and Mission

The Central Operations Team is the engine room of Y TREE, responsible for the efficient and accurate execution of client advice and the ownership of the client billing process.

However, this is not a standard processing role. As the Central Operations Lead, you are the ultimate owner of our day‑to‑day business operations and our first line of defense against enterprise risk. Your mission is twofold: execute high‑stakes operational workflows with absolute mechanical precision, and simultaneously architect the automated systems required to scale them. You will act as the connective tissue between Operations, Product, and the C‑Suite, translating complex technical realities into executive level strategy.

We are looking for an uncompromising operator who runs toward the fire, enforces strict operational governance, and refuses to ship anything below the highest standard.

Your role within the Central Operations team

  • Architectural Leadership: Grow and support a team of Analysts and Associates, not just by managing them, but by driving exceptional results and contributing to the team’s overall strategic direction.
  • Autonomous Risk Ownership: Contribute directly to Operations Team strategic & growth targets. You will not just report problems; you will proactively identify crystallised and latent regulatory risks and own the fix, providing rigorous, constructive feedback on process and technology.
  • Technical Consultancy: Represent Operations as a technical consultant to the rest of the business during the scoping phase of new product offerings. You must confidently communicate routes to success and enforce strict operational boundaries to relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Central Operations & Trading

  • Lead all advice execution, including complex scheduling, trade transmission, asset transfers, and FX transactions, under strict regulatory SLAs to improve client outcomes and reduce costs.
  • Oversee meticulous trade reconciliation and verification.
  • Manage the Rebalanced Portfolio Service (RPS) pipeline, guaranteeing the accurate and timely execution of all generated trades.
  • Act as the definitive escalation point for all trade‑related issues, liaising directly with platform and brokerage partners for swift resolution.
  • Own the invoicing and custody account collection processes, ensuring absolute accuracy and maximum efficiency.
  • Act as an authorized signatory, bearing responsibility for client payments and withdrawals from custody accounts.
  • Manage wrapper transfers (e.g., SIPPs, GIAs) ensuring swift, compliant completion.

Systematisation & Enterprise Risk Management

  • Act as an architectural systems thinker. Collaborate with Product & Client Teams to improve Y TREE systems, reduce operational drag, and provide a sustainable platform for growth.
  • Take responsibility for the operationalisation of new business improvements, managing stakeholders and supporting Central Ops team members on projects.
  • Act as a structural guardrail for the business. Iterate on existing processes to enforce strict operational scope and prevent unscalable, non‑compliant workflows.
  • Work dynamically to facilitate new product offerings by developing short, medium, and long‑term Target Operating Models (TOMs).

Commercial Leverage & Third-Party Relationships

  • Partner with the Head of Client Operations to establish and extract value from commercially beneficial partners.
  • Build data‑driven business cases for new third‑party relationships to present to the Y TREE Board.
  • Maintain and leverage relationships with existing key partners to ensure smooth operations.
  • Drive systems improvements at existing key partners to enable Y TREE to grow efficiently.

Recruitment, Leadership & Incident Management

  • Run the interview process to select highly qualified candidates at the Analyst and Associate levels, with the support of the Talent Experience team.
  • Lead interdepartmental training, leading through clarity and process rather than hierarchy.
  • Act as the lead incident responder for the swift resolution of risk incidents (e.g., vendor IT outages), client complaints, and compensation.

Who You Are

Required experience / qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Previous experience performing the certified client dealing function.
  • IMC 1 & 2 or equivalent.

Personal Characteristics

  • Uncompromising Quality Control: You operate with a ruthless internal standard. You hold yourself and your team to the highest degree of accuracy and will publicly halt a substandard process rather than ship it.
  • Executive‑Level Translator: You are a clear communicator and decisive decision‑maker. You can operate deep in the operational weeds and instantly translate those complexities into concise, commercial risk assessments for senior leadership.
  • Autonomous & Proactive: You take complete ownership of outcomes. You do not wait for instructions during a crisis; you investigate, elevate, and manage the impact independently.
  • Front‑Office Governor: You are confident in cross‑functional collaboration, but you are not a people‑pleaser. You are comfortable pushing back on commercial teams to enforce operational boundaries and protect the firm’s regulatory integrity.
  • Data‑Driven System Builder: You think creatively and architecturally about challenges. You use KPIs and data not just to track performance, but to build scalable, systematic Target Operating Models.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: You create a highly structured, comfortable environment for your team to learn and execute, coaching them on risk identification and rigorous standards. You lead by example and are heavily involved in shaping OKRs.
  • Commercial Negotiator: You are highly comfortable representing the business in third‑party negotiations, understanding the delicate balance between operational demands and preserving critical vendor relationships.

What’s in it for you?

  • Once eligible, you’ll be able to enroll onto our private healthcare plan through Vitality. This includes perks like 50% off premium gym memberships and access to their exclusive rewards programme.
  • Support for your mental health and wellbeing through our employee assistance programme.
  • 25 days of annual leave per year. This is 25 days each year where we expect you to turn your phone off and switch off; we would never ask you to book leave for a doctor’s appointment or to see your children’s school plays.
  • Regular team socials to help you switch off from work and get to know your colleagues in an environment away from your desk. We ensure socials are well‑balanced and offer a variety of activities to suit different needs so you always feel welcome.
  • A welcoming, dog‑friendly London office with appropriate spaces to cater for those with varying needs in the form of various breakout spaces and silent booths.
  • As well as, a range of family‑friendly policies, support towards professional qualifications, electric car schemes and more!

Our mission at Y TREE is to build diversity in our teams; diversity of thought, culture, backgrounds and perspectives. Please come as you are and let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make to support you in your application process. Additionally, if you don’t feel you meet 100% of the requirements please apply anyway if you feel you can demonstrate your suitability to the role. Please note, that sponsorship is not available for this role.
