Transport Manager – 2 Years Experience Required – Whitney – Permanent Role.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 07:00 to 16:30
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum

Purpose of the Role
They are looking for a hands‑on Transport Manager to take full responsibility for their day‑to‑day transport operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and strong commercial performance. This is not a desk‑based role. They are looking for someone who is present, proactive, and confident in managing drivers, challenging performance, and maintaining full control of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage transport operations, including routing, planning, and fleet utilisation.
- Monitor and improve vehicle performance, efficiency, and downtime.
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation and operator requirements.
- Take ownership of cost control, KPIs, and operational profitability.
- Work closely with planners and operational teams.
- Lead and manage drivers, ensuring performance and accountability.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness.
- Ensure reliable and timely service delivery, resolving customer issues and complaints effectively.
- Support maintaining accreditation standards, including the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in transport or logistics.
- Minimum 2 years managing drivers or operational teams.
- CPC qualified or actively working towards it.
- Experience using TMS, routing systems, and MS Office.
- Good knowledge of the Oxfordshire area.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience in waste management / skip hire / similar industry.
- IOSH or equivalent safety training.
