Role description
The Digital Project Controls and Systems Lead is responsible for enabling digital project and programme controls, with a focus on data, systems, assurance, and governance. The role provides strategic oversight of project controls systems, data flows, and reporting architecture to ensure information is accurate, governed, and trusted for decision‑making. The position leads the maturity of processes, embeds digital ways of working, manages complex workstreams, and acts as a senior client interface across digital project controls and systems.
Role accountabilities
- Lead delivery of digital project controls solutions across complex projects or programmes.
- Act as the senior authority on project controls systems, data architecture, and reporting frameworks.
- Manage project controls systems and databases, ensuring effective data pipelines across cost, schedule, risk, change, and performance data.
- Establish and embed data assurance and governance frameworks, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and auditable.
- Champion business process automation and digital tools to improve efficiency, data quality, and reporting.
- Lead initiatives to improve maturity, standardisation, and continuous improvement across project controls processes.
- Engage stakeholders at all levels to embed new digital ways of working and support change adoption.
- Act as the primary client interface for systems, data assurance, and performance reporting, reviewing outputs before submission.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong experience in project or programme controls, including cost, schedule, risk, change, and performance reporting.
- Experience across all stages of the project or programme lifecycle, from mobilisation through to benefits realisation.
- Qualifications aligned to project controls, planning, and/or risk management (e.g., MSP, APM certifications, Oracle P6, risk management accreditation).
- Demonstrated knowledge of data quality, assurance, and governance principles.
- Experience applying digital tools and automation to improve processes and reporting.
- Proven experience managing project controls systems and datasets.
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Desirable experience in enterprise reporting platforms, integrated controls systems, or digital transformation in major infrastructure programmes.
