Assistant Facilities Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Facilities Manager to support the delivery of healthcare services by assisting in the day to day management of teams, resources and operational processes within a newly opened Community Diagnostic Unit.

The role involves coordinating staff, monitoring performance and service standards, supporting patient‑focused initiatives and ensuring compliance with NHS policies and regulations. The assistant manager will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to improve efficiency, maintain high quality care and help achieve organisational objectives in a busy healthcare setting.

Main duties

  • Communicates with a range of contacts, for example, managers at all levels, staff, patients, visitors and other clients on issues relating to efficient functioning of the facilities teams.
  • Assist with allocation of pay and non‑pay costs to ensure control of budget, e.g., rota planning, stock ordering and stock control.
  • Monitor service delivery through quality and performance indicators and proactively seek new ways of working to improve standards.
  • Produce reports and other documents as required, including cleanliness monitoring and sickness reports/records.
  • Provide service‑related advice, information or guidance to a range of contacts, including internal & external customers.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Training & Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Maths and English at C or above, or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.
  • Minimum of two years previous supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of operational facilities functions, e.g. cleaning/catering services.
  • Experience of dealing with confidential information.

Personal Attributes

  • Self‑disciplined/motivated to function independently but also able to motivate others.

Skills

  • Able to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Possess a range of communication skills to foster positive channels of communication with a range of staff.
  • Able to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Have the ability to exercise sound judgement in relation to problem solving and identifying situations requiring further advice.
