Vets4Pets Fort Kinnaird are hiring!

Role: Pet Health Advisor (PHA) – a fresh, modern way of managing the client journey in our clinic.
Location: Vets4Pets Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh

If you love people, adore pets, and get a quiet thrill from making a busy day run brilliantly… this one's for you.

The essentials

Hours: 35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
Typically this looks like:

  • 3 full days per week 8.30am-7pm (days vary on the rota)
  • 1 in 3 weekends (shorter hours)
    • Saturday 9-6
    • Sunday 10-4
    • Flexibility, rota changes and absence cover are part of the role.
    • Overtime: expected

Pay: Starting salary 12.71/hr, expected increase after training and with performance (we aim for 6 months but this can vary) followed by annual salary reviews together which are performance based.

You'll need:

  • Experience in client-facing roles (essential)
  • A professional appearance
  • Confidence with computers, emails, software and digital comms

Why this role exists

This isn't a standard reception job.

Our PHA role is designed to create a gold-standard client experience in a fast-paced clinical environment. You are the calm, capable, friendly link between the pet owner and the clinical team-helping clients feel informed, supported and genuinely cared for.

Who you are (on your best day – and your busy day)

You're someone who:

  • Stays calm, composed and kind when emotions are high
  • Is warm, confident and professional face-to-face
  • Has an excellent telephone manner
  • Enjoys problem-solving and finds satisfaction in getting things right
  • Likes improving how a service works-not just doing the same thing forever
  • Can move quickly between priorities without losing quality

You care deeply about the client experience, but you also understand that great care needs great systems behind it.

What a typical day looks like

Your day will be varied, lively and purposeful.

You'll work across two key areas:

    1. Front-of-clinic client care

You will:

  • Welcome clients and pets
  • Answer questions clearly and confidently
  • Register new clients
  • Support existing clients with everything they need
  • Bring a smart, positive, reassuring presence to the front of house

This part of the role needs a friendly, polished, proactive version of you.

2. Telephony + digital client support

You will:

  • Handle calls and digital communications
  • Troubleshoot client queries
  • Liaise closely with the clinical team
  • Keep things organised, efficient and well-documented

This part of the role needs your structure, momentum and excellent communication.

You'll also support:

  • Admin tasks
  • Team projects
  • Process development
  • Day-to-day clinic teamwork

Full training and ongoing support are provided on the job.

This role would suit

  • Someone from the veterinary sector who wants to build a career on the client-care side
  • Someone from a fast-paced customer environment (health, hospitality, retail, service) who wants something more meaningful and progressive
  • A people-person who also loves animals and enjoys building trust during difficult moments

What you get in return

You'll join a supportive, friendly team where your role genuinely matters.

Benefits include:

  • Pension scheme
  • 20% discount at The Vet Group, Pets at Home and the Groom Room
  • Access to wider discounts and cashback offers
  • CPD opportunities through the Vets4Pets Learning Academy for those who progress strongly through onboarding
  • Additional surgery-based benefits (shared on application)
