Job Description:

South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist for the 12‑bed female medium secure ward (Skipton Ward) at Cheswold Park Hospital.

The role involves providing clinical leadership, direct patient care, teaching, audit, and service improvement in a female medium secure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Cover and manage the 12‑bed female medium secure ward.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership and supervision.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans for patients with mental illness and personality disorder.
  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audit, and research activities.
  • Ensure compliance with MHA, MCA, and Trust policies.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and liaise with families or carers.

Qualifications

  • MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
  • MRCPsych.
  • Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Forensic Psychiatry or General Psychiatry with a special interest in Forensic Psychiatry within six months of appointment.
  • Approved clinician status and S12 status achieved within three months of appointment.

Experience

  • Experience in forensic psychiatry or medium secure services.
  • Experience leading clinical audits and service improvement projects.
  • Experience in research or service evaluation.

Transport

  • Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence.
