Junior Clinical Fellow in Gynaecological Oncology

NHS Medical & Dental: Local Appointment nodal point 3 (MT03)

This Junior Clinical Fellow post in Gynaecological Oncology offers a unique opportunity to work within one of the UK’s leading women’s health and cancer centres at UCLH. Based in the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing, you will be embedded in a high-volume tertiary gynae-oncology service, gaining hands‑on exposure to complex cancer care alongside expert subspecialty teams.

The role is ideal for a motivated doctor seeking focused experience in gynae‑oncology, whether to strengthen an application for specialty training or to develop academic, research and service‑development interests. You will be actively involved in multidisciplinary team working, theatre, inpatient care and specialist clinics, with structured support to participate in audit and research.

With no on‑call commitment, predictable working patterns and access to world‑class teaching, research and mentorship, this post offers an outstanding environment to build advanced clinical skills while contributing meaningfully to patient care in a nationally recognised centre of excellence.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality gynaecological oncology care within a busy tertiary referral centre, working closely with consultants, subspecialty trainees and the wider multidisciplinary team. The role involves active participation in inpatient care, operating theatres, multidisciplinary decision‑making and specialist outpatient activity, providing broad exposure to complex oncological case management.

You will be expected to demonstrate strong clinical judgement, organisation and communication skills, preparing and following up patients discussed at MDT, supporting peri‑operative care, and contributing to safe, compassionate day‑to‑day management of inpatients. The role also requires the ability to work effectively within a team, take initiative, and manage competing priorities in a high‑acuity environment.

The postholder will be encouraged to engage in audit, quality improvement and research activity, with support to develop projects aligned to the gynae‑oncology service. This role suits a motivated doctor with a clear interest in women’s health and oncology, who is keen to develop advanced clinical experience, contribute to service improvement, and work within a supportive, academically‑led department.
