Job Overview
Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the Software Test Team Leader undertakes the day-to-day responsibility for testing multidisciplinary projects working on their own initiative, including creating and running tests to ensure the quality and functionality of our product. You will be involved in all phases of the testing program, from creating the test cases right through to customer witnessed functional acceptance test phases. You will also act as line manager and team lead to the system test team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver test engineering activities to agreed time, cost, quality and performance requirements for large multidisciplinary projects.
- Line manage and lead the system test team, including periodic progress reviews and work planning and allocation.
- Produce test procedures according to the test strategy for system integration testing.
- Plan, coordinate and manage test tasks to deliver effectively and efficiently.
- Write test cases, test specifications and test scripts.
- Regularly report test progress and status.
- Demonstrate engineering assurance and governance by complying with standards, processes, procedures and requirements.
- Provide estimates for test tasks, including engineering deliverables, resources, plans, technology, risk and process.
- Communicate test estimates, progress, results, metrics, bug reports and other relevant information to the test leadership team.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Software/System Test Engineer; engineering domain experience preferred but not essential.
- Track record of successfully leading teams and managing staff.
- Knowledge and proven experience in system integration testing of complex systems.
- Proficient handling experience in using ALM tools (DOORS advantage).
- Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas if required.
- Proficient in writing test cases, test specifications and test scripts.
- ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing (desirable).
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of software test methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle.
