Principal and ILS & Obsolescence Engineer

Join a globally recognised engineering and technology business working on some of the UK’s most critical defence and maritime programmes. This is a key opportunity for an experienced ILS professional to influence long-term system supportability, lead technical delivery, and help shape the future of complex engineering projects.

Role Overview

  • Location: Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames / Hybrid working available
  • Package: £48,400 – £65,000 + bonus + excellent benefits
  • Industry: Defence / Maritime Engineering
  • SC Eligible for UK Eyes Only Projects

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading Integrated Logistics Support and obsolescence activities across major engineering programmes
  • Supporting products throughout the full lifecycle, from development through to in-service support
  • Acting as the go‑to ILS specialist for internal teams, customers, suppliers, and programme stakeholders
  • Driving continuous improvement of ILS processes, methodologies, and best practices
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to engineers, suppliers, and partner organisations
  • Building strong working relationships with customers and supporting long‑term sustainment strategies
  • Helping ensure programme delivery remains aligned to quality, compliance, and operational requirements
  • Coaching and supporting colleagues within the wider engineering function

Main Skills Needed

  • Strong background in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Obsolescence Engineering
  • Experience working across complex engineering or highly regulated environments
  • Ability to engage confidently with customers, suppliers, and technical stakeholders
  • Leadership capability with experience mentoring or supporting engineering teams
  • Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skillsDefence or maritime sector experience would be highly beneficial
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK SC Clearance
