Overview
You will work across Basildon and the Cardio‑Thoracic Centre (CTC), contributing to both general cardiology services and your chosen subspecialty. This full‑time (10 PA) role, with the potential for an additional +2 APAs, is designed to support the rapid expansion of our cardiology services. You will play a key role in shaping and developing the service while delivering excellent patient care. Professional growth and innovation are valued, and you will be encouraged to further develop your subspecialty skills with dedicated time, mentorship and training support available. Up to 2 PAs per week can be protected for your specialist interest, allowing you to build expertise and make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
- Confirm AAC Panel date – 24th June 2026.
- Contribute to the Consultant of the Week on‑call rota at Basildon on a 1:8 basis, providing senior clinical leadership and timely decision‑making for acute cardiology patients.
- Participate in the bradycardia pacing service, including joining the device on‑call rota (1:8), ensuring safe and effective management of pacing support.
- Work closely with Consultant Cardiologists, Cardiac Nurse Specialists, Clinical Physiologists and multidisciplinary teams across the Trust to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
- Support professional activities such as continuing professional development, audit and service improvement, and may undertake research, teaching or management responsibilities as agreed with the Clinical Chair.
- Ensure full compliance with Trust policies and clinical governance standards, including timely triage of referrals, completion of discharge summaries before patient discharge, appropriate management of non‑attendance (DNA) and accurate, timely clinical documentation.
Qualifications
Clinician with strong all‑round cardiology expertise, including bradycardia pacing, and a chosen subspecialty interest such as complex devices or cardiac imaging. A full‑time cardiologist ready to take the next step in a collaborative and progressive environment.
