Senior Analyst / Senior Auditor (Performance Auditor)
Role Overview
An independent national audit role supporting Parliament in scrutinising how public money is spent. The Senior Analyst/ Auditor will lead and manage performance audit projects, produce high‑quality written reports, influence decision makers and contribute to value‑for‑money outcomes across government programmes.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team to deliver value‑for‑money work on time and within budget.
- Manage a complex portfolio of audit projects, balancing tasks and priorities and supporting the development of others.
- Use technical knowledge to deliver high quality work across VFM reports and wider audit outputs.
- Scrutinise a wide range of government and third‑party information sources, assess reliability and usefulness.
- Make sound judgements, reach clear evidence‑based conclusions and develop meaningful recommendations.
- Communicate complex audit findings in well‑structured written outputs suitable for both specialist and non‑technical audiences.
- Think creatively and innovatively in how work is approached and delivered.
- Engage effectively with colleagues and clients at all levels to create impact.
- Influence and add value by building an understanding of the challenges faced by those audited.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Experience of project and people management, drawn from a range of backgrounds including performance audit, internal audit or research.
- Professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIA, MIIA, CIMA) or equivalent experience for Senior Auditors.
- For Senior Analysts: a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant discipline (or research‑based postgraduate qualification) with relevant experience.
