An exciting opportunity has opened up for you to join our wards at Park Royal Mental Health Centre. At CNWL we are committed to working at the highest standards of clinical excellence.
The post holder will take up the responsibility of being the Unit/Site Coordinator at least four times a month. You will provide unit management support and co‑ordinate and facilitate patient flow (bed management) out of hours. In addition, the unit co‑ordinator will provide senior nursing support, professional leadership and advice to all clinical areas within the unit, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“Please note that this role requires successful candidates to be able to engage in Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) training, including the use of force techniques. This is because of the high‑acuity nature of the ward environment and the need to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. The role is conditional upon candidates being able to engage in TMVA training during the course of their employment whilst undertaking this role.”
Key Responsibilities
- Unit management support and coordination of patient flow (bed management) out of hours.
- Senior nursing support, professional leadership and advice to all clinical areas within the unit.
- Maintaining safe and effective care, including risk assessments and safeguarding.
- Supervising other Band 5 nurses, healthcare assistants/support workers and students to ensure standards.
- Providing effective team communication, working in partnership with multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Ensuring accurate, legible, comprehensive records and maintaining compliance with mandatory training requirements.
- Escalating safety concerns and acting as effective advocates for patients.
- Reflecting on everyday practice to identify areas for improvement and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Working with patients and families in all stages of the care planning process, including assessing risks and needs.
- Providing skilled, evidence‑based nursing care adhering to agreed policies and procedures.
- Acting as patient advocates in the multi‑disciplinary team and overseeing the work of junior staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Band 6 nursing registration and NHS eligibility.
- Ability to engage in TMVA training during employment.
- Experience in high‑acuity mental health settings.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to the NMC Code of Conduct and registration each year.
