We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cardiac nurse specialist to join our cardiology specialist nurse service at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. The team is composed of Cardiac Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Specialist nurses in electrophysiology, heart failure and acute coronary syndrome. The successful candidate will be fully supported to develop specialist nurse skills, manage a caseload of patients and support the flow through the department from admission to discharge across both elective and non‑elective pathways, including elective cardioversions, implantable loop recorder implants and TOE procedures. The shift patterns and times will vary according to the needs of the service and will involve weekend and bank holiday working.
Responsibilities
- Support the flow of elective and non‑elective pathways through the department.
- Educate patients and provide in‑depth education of procedures and cardiac conditions.
- Perform and support cardiology procedures such as elective cardioversions, implantable loop recorder implants, and transoesophageal echocardiograms (TOEs).
- Coordinate patient care across admission, treatment and discharge within the cardiology service.
- Embed clinical best practice and quality improvement initiatives within the service.
Qualifications
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Experience in a cardiac nursing role with knowledge of electrophysiology, heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, or related specialties.
- Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
Location
The post holder will work across all three Trust sites: Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Poole Hospital and Christchurch Hospital.
