£50,000 – £55,500 per annum (dependent on experience, services managed and additional responsibilities)

Bonus

Additional £2,500 – £5,000 performance bonus based on occupancy and Ofsted outcomes

Hours

37 hours per week plus additional sleep‑in/on‑call payments where required

Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in St Helens.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate childcare professional who is committed to achieving outstanding outcomes for children and young people within a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment.

Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day management, leadership and development of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the residential home in line with Ofsted regulations and quality standards
  • Ensure children and young people receive high‑quality care and support
  • Manage, supervise and develop the staff team through regular supervisions and appraisals
  • Oversee safeguarding practices, risk assessments and care planning processes
  • Ensure all policies, procedures and legislative requirements are fully implemented
  • Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections and internal auditsMonitor medication administration and record keeping standards
  • Manage staff performance, disciplinary and grievance procedures where required
  • Chair team meetings and contribute to service development and strategic planning
  • Participate in the management on‑call rota
  • Promote equality, diversity and anti‑oppressive practice throughout the service

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within children’s residential care
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding and childcare legislation
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Excellent communication, organisational and report‑writing skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for looked after children

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
  • Experience managing multiple services or complex placements
  • IT skills including Word and Excel
