Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive electrical testing, fault diagnosis, and rectification on a wide range of electrical systems and equipment, including LV distribution, final circuits, power, lighting and HVAC plant.
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules in accordance with agreed service level agreements (SLAs) and industry best practices such as SFG 20, BS7671 and EAWR.
  • Respond promptly to critical safety observations to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct electrical test and inspection services in line with CBRE Electrical Safety Rules, EAWR 1989 and Guidance Note 3.
  • Ensure all work adheres strictly to relevant electrical regulations, including BS7671 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations and United Utilities’ specific electrical requirements such as surge protection and hazardous area classifications.
  • Undertake site surveys and prepare Works Requests, Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all planned work, ensuring safe working practices.
  • Maintain accurate site logs and associated paperwork, including detailed records of maintenance, testing and repairs.
  • Liaise effectively with United Utilities representatives, subcontractors and other CBRE team members to ensure seamless service delivery and communication.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in electrical systems and maintenance processes.
  • Adhere to all company and client health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification is essential.
  • City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent) in Inspection and Testing is essential.
  • Recognised Electrical Qualification such as City & Guilds levels 1, 2 and 3 in Electrical Installations.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Test Engineer or Electrical Bias Engineer, ideally within a critical environment or industrial setting.
  • Strong technical understanding of industrial facility power distribution and coordination.
  • Experience with power system schematics is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, instructions, processes and O&Ms.
  • A commitment to personal development and continuous learning to maintain professional and technical skills.

Working Hours & Flexibility

  • Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
  • Overtime flexibility required.
