You will be working within our Building Services team based at Royal Derby Hospital, where we are responsible for creating healthy workplaces, comfortable homes and efficient facilities that improve people’s lives. Through collaboration and innovation, we deliver high‑quality solutions that make a lasting, positive impact for people and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on a wide range of mechanical systems, with a focus on plumbing installations including domestic hot and cold‑water systems, drainage, sanitary ware, and associated plant.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to hospital mechanical services, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new plumbing/mechanical systems and modifications to existing installations.
  • Work from job tickets, technical drawings, and verbal instructions while ensuring work is carried out to high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Time‑served apprenticeship in a relevant mechanical discipline.
  • Proven experience working on plumbing systems within a commercial or healthcare environment.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of HTMs and healthcare estate requirements.
