PAT Testing Engineer New Cross

Job Overview

JR PAT Testing is seeking experienced and self‑employed PAT engineers to support a growing client portfolio across the UK. The role offers flexible hours and the possibility to work part‑time or full‑time, with earnings based on a pro‑rated payment model per appliance tested.

Responsibilities

• Perform portable appliance testing (PAT) across a range of client sites, including hospitals, retail outlets, offices, and other commercial premises.
• Operate testing equipment, record results and produce detailed reports, either in paper or electronic format.
• Provide customers with clear explanations of test outcomes and advise on repair, replacement or further action required.
• Maintain a personal inventory of calibrated equipment and ensure all tools are up‑to‑date and compliant with relevant regulations.
• Travel to client sites using your own transport, manage schedules, and deliver services efficiently.
• Adhere to the company’s safety protocols and maintain a professional and courteous demeanour at all times.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
• Own insurance covering PAT work.
• Access to calibrated testing equipment.
• Reliable and honest, with a can‑do attitude.
• Valid transport or means of travel to client sites within the New Cross area or commutable distances.

Compensation & Conditions

Payments are discussed on a per‑job basis and are based on a pro‑rated rate per appliance tested. Full‑time or part‑time commitments are accommodated and can be negotiated to suit your schedule.

Location

Based in New Cross, with the ability to travel to various client sites across the UK.
