We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Estimator to join our growing team. This is an excellent development role for someone with a small amount of experience in construction, estimating, or a related technical role in order to manage small projects but who is keen to build their skills and progress within a supportive environment.
Working alongside our experienced Bid and Operational teams, you’ll assist with pricing tenders for new and existing clients across Public Services and Commercial projects. Our work spans a wide mix of projects nationwide, giving you exposure to different clients and schemes as you grow in confidence.
With significant expansion planned over the next three years, this is an exciting time to join us. We’ll support you to develop your technical capability, take on more responsibility, and play a key part in improving the success of the tenders we submit. Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of quotations, bids, and tenders
- Help prepare supplier and subcontractor enquiries and review returned quotations
- Support take‑offs and quantity measurement for pricing purposes
- Gather materials, labour and plant information needed for tender submissions
- Contribute to the preparation of tender breakdowns and value engineering options
- Liaise with colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to gather key project information
- Attend internal or client meetings as required
- Support the assessment of operational and commercial risks in bidsLearn to measure projects using SMM7 or NRM (training provided if required)
About You
We’re looking for someone with hands on experience in construction estimating, cost planning or a similar technical role at an assistant or junior level. Bring a basic understanding of pricing, measurements, or construction project processes, with a willingness to learn more. Have strong attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills, confidence using Microsoft Office and open to learning estimating software.
Because we will support you to develop your career as a confident estimator, you should be motivated, organised, and keen to develop a long‑term career within estimating. Applications will not be considered from those who have no estimating experience.
A qualification within the construction sector is highly advantageous.
