Overview
Recent or upcoming University of Sheffield graduates are invited to join the Lead Generation team as Recruitment Interns. The role delivers student recruitment activity across the North of England (Yorkshire and Humber, the North West, the North East, the East Midlands and the West Midlands), with occasional travel to the South of England. The focus is on off‑campus events in schools and other venues. The position covers all levels of study but emphasizes undergraduate, aiming to raise awareness at early stages of the prospective student journey and increase applications. You will require strong interpersonal, communication, oral and written presentation, and organisation skills. A successful candidate must complete an enhanced DBS check.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Represent the University at recruitment events for Undergraduate (school/college presentations, careers fairs, UCAS exhibitions) and Postgraduate (FindMyMasters fairs), providing advice and insight and capturing leads from prospective students.
- Travel frequently across the North of England and sometimes the South of England, driving long distances and staying overnight; a full UK driving licence is required.
- Provide information, advice and guidance to prospective students, acting as a positive role model.
- Work closely with the Student Recruitment Manager and Officers to deliver the UK recruitment strategy using face‑to‑face and digital methods.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Plan and deliver short‑term projects in collaboration with colleagues across MARC.
- Assist with recruitment, training and deployment of Student Ambassadors to support recruitment activities.
- Collaborate with the Access Team to embed messaging into Lead Generation activities.
- Effectively manage risks, including safeguarding and driving requirements.
- Engage in regulated activity with children and young people through school and college engagement; complete an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training.
- Carry out other duties as required for the role, including attendance at on‑campus events (e.g. open days) on weekends.
Person Specification
- Essential: A good honours degree or equivalent, having graduated from the University of Sheffield within the last two years or being due to graduate Summer 2026.
- Essential: A full UK driving licence and confidence in driving long distances (vehicle access not required).
- Essential: Experience of working professionally in a busy environment.
- Essential: Good time management, project management and organisational skills.
- Essential: Ability to work collaboratively, build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, and create strong networks.

- Desirable: Understanding of the demographic of applicants to the University and a range of student recruitment activities.
