Job Description:

Do you want to lead a team of specialists, working collaboratively to minimise disruption and improve journeys on our highway network? We are looking for an experienced Traffic Manager to lead the coordination of works and incidents on our highway network – reducing congestion, minimising disruption, and improving journeys for residents, businesses and visitors. Our Traffic Management team keeps people moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the council’s Strategic Highway Network Management Plan.
  • Direct street work operators, statutory undertakers, local businesses and other council departments.
  • Manage a team of officers to ensure the council discharges its legal duties under the Traffic Management Act.
  • Implement and operate the Bracknell Forest Permit Scheme (BFPS).
  • Ensure effective recovery of income, including BFPS fees, NRSWA section 74 charges, inspection charges, licence fees and Fixed Penalty Notice income, and pursue debt recovery to balance operational costs.
  • Manage and respond to an out‑of‑hours call‑out service, ensuring timely and effective action during highway emergencies.
  • Oversee the daily operations and respond proactively to network disruption and incidents.
  • Maintain a 4‑hour on‑site presence at Time Square office at least one day per week, with flexible working arrangements.

Salary

£55,224 – £60,728 per year inclusive of London Weighting, plus a stand‑by payment of £300 per month.

Working Pattern

Full‑time, 37 hours per week, flexible hours, with a minimum of one day per week on site at Time Square office.
