Amazon is seeking a highly experienced Program Manager to support the continued expansion of our European fulfillment and sort centre network. This individual will lead a team of contracted support personnel and coordinate the internal and external resources required to launch new highly complex fulfillment and sort centres with the goals of achieving timelines, staying within budget, and driving standardization and consistency within our network. Ideal candidates have experience managing large and complex projects with ambitious schedule commitments. The person must be capable of leading and mentoring their project resources while also managing project engineers and other specialists and coordinating schedules with multiple vendors at the same time. They must be comfortable interfacing with and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization to be successful.

The role is based in the UK with 50% of the time spent traveling domestically or to other EU countries, offering opportunities to work in multiple countries and cultures.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in vendor and Amazon safety policies.
  • Coordinate multiple interdependent material flow and installation schedules of vendors.
  • Manage overall project budget and approve all purchase orders and invoices.
  • Contribute to developing comprehensive budgets during project conception.
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned program or project.
  • Assume different roles, sometimes supporting, sometimes leading.
  • Take accountability while providing status updates, asking for help, and immediately escalating issues and problems as necessary.
  • Represent the company with vendors and suppliers during project execution.
  • Mobilize company resources through effective liaison with support departments to create project teams capable of completing effective quality work.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of all project activity, including significant milestones and any conditions that would affect project cost or schedule.
  • Responsible for overall project schedule that enables the teams to be successful based on the project milestones and Go‑Live.
  • Have experience in a distribution environment and knowledge of material handling equipment such as pallet racking, conveyor, and forklifts.
  • Possess a broad technical background and the ability to “roll up their sleeves” and jump in if needed, while managing.
  • Contribute to project planning from concept to completion.

A Day in the Life

You will plan and execute projects that deliver operational fulfillment and sortation centers. Your day may include engaging with all levels of the organization to agree on strategy, attending the site, planning and managing resources to execute outlined activities in an integrated schedule. You will make decisions on behalf of the business and see the outcomes materialize through coordination of stakeholders, both internal and third‑party, celebrating the successful launch of the facility or project.

About the Team

The International Startup team is a talented group that coordinates all activities required to safely build highly complex FCs and SCs to network standards across the international market. The team values work‑life balance and is dedicated to developing and supporting new team members, enabling PMs to execute challenging timelines and frugal budgets for new build, expansion, and retrofit projects derived from capacity and inventory needs to optimize the Amazon Fulfillment network.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Transportation, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, or another technical field.
  • Experience leading and interacting with cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience in project management including communication, planning, and documentation.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and able to take direction in English.
  • Experience developing and managing large project budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • Basic working experience with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Solid Works, or other).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high‑level negotiation and successful internal and external relationship management.
  • Experience in project management from design phase through implementation and operation.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, quickly changing or international environment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience launching new logistics centre, factories or large facilities (including equipment deployment and management of all related processes).
  • Advanced CAD skills.
  • Knowledge of languages such as French, German, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese (Mandarin), Afrikaans and Zulu.
