Hethel Engineering Centre | Permanent | Full-time

Join ETA Green Power and help shape the next generation of high-performance electric motors. We’re looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, integration, and validation of advanced electric machines in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll take ownership of motor design from concept through to production—working at the cutting edge of electrification.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead mechanical design of electric machines (rotor, stator, shaft, housing, bearings)
  • Develop air-cooled thermal management strategies and validate real-world performance
  • Integrate key components including magnets, windings, insulation, and sensing systems
  • Conduct analysis across stress, vibration, rotor dynamics, and thermal behaviour
  • Define and deliver test & validation plans (performance, durability, efficiency)
  • Lead FMEA, root cause analysis, and design robustness activities
  • Collaborate with electromagnetic, controls, and test teams
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable, scalable, and cost-effective
  • Support customer and internal stakeholders with clear technical communication

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in electric motor/mechanical design
  • Deep understanding of rotor dynamics, thermal management, and structural integrity
  • Experience with validation, testing, and failure analysis
  • Ability to translate performance targets into practical engineering solutions
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

The Opportunity

Work on cutting-edge integrated electric powertrain technology in a growing, agile business. You’ll play a key role in delivering products from concept to reality, influencing both design and strategy.

Start: May / June
