Sapien are looking for a Composite Engineer for an engineering consultancy working across a range of high-performance industries. This role is to support the design, analysis and delivery of advanced composite structures. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit engineering team working on technically challenging projects across multiple sectors.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Composite component and assembly design using CAD software
  • Laminate definition, ply orientation and material selection
  • Structural analysis of composite structures using FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys or Nastran
  • Hand calculations and validation activities
  • Supporting manufacturing and design-for-manufacture activities
  • Producing technical reports, drawings and engineering documentation
  • Supporting project delivery to time, cost and quality targets
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients
  • Supporting bids, proposals and technical discussions where required


Experience Required

  • Experience within composite design and composite structural analysis
  • Background within high-performance engineering sectors
  • Experience with CAD and FEA tools
  • Understanding of composite materials, manufacturing methods and structural behaviour
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Experience with prepreg, infusion or RTM manufacturing processes is desirable
  • Knowledge of composite failure criteria and validation methods is desirable
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership is desirable

  • Salary £40,000 – £60,000 DOE
