Systems Engineer
A leading European defence organisation, recognised with multiple recent industry and employer awards, is expanding its systems engineering capability to support the British Army, the Polish Armed Forces, and a growing international customer base. With recent multi-million-pound investment into UK sites and a strong record of delivering complex air defence systems, this organisation offers both career growth and the chance to work on projects of national and international significance.
The opportunity:
You will join a team supporting the delivery and evolution of a proven land-based air defence system, with responsibility for ensuring requirements are captured, defined, and delivered across a diverse portfolio. Current programmes include supporting UK capability, fulfilling export contracts, and tailoring solutions for new customers.
What you will do:
• Work directly with customers to understand and capture their needs
• Derive system, subsystem, and software requirements to meet operational objectives
• Inform product line approaches, enabling a common suite of solutions across multiple programmes
• Manage engineering change in a controlled and transparent way
• Act as the customer voice for specific software items, ensuring alignment throughout the lifecycle
Skills and experience:
• Requirements management and derivation experience, ideally within defence
• Familiarity with system engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, DOORS NG, Rhapsody)
• Strong ability to present and communicate technical information clearly to stakeholders
• Experience in engineering change control and management
• Background in developing complex systems, with trade studies and system development activities
• Stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across multiple levels
• Experience of working with product lines is advantageous
Salary and working model:
• Up to £57,000 depending on experience
• Typically 3 days per week on-site in the UK
