About the Role
Conekt Legal is currently partnering with a high growth tech client to recruit a high‑performing Senior Legal Counsel to join their growing in‑house legal team in Glasgow. You will be a trusted adviser to the business on a wide range of commercial, technology, data and operational matters, working closely with leaders across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Compliance.
This is a strategic, hands‑on role suited to a commercial lawyer who thrives in a fast‑moving tech environment and enjoys partnering with the business to enable growth while managing legal risk.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Technology Contracts
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including SaaS/technology licences, data licensing, procurement, partnership, reseller, and consulting agreements.
- Support complex, high‑value enterprise deals and key customer negotiations.
- Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks and negotiation principles.
Product, Data & Privacy
- Partner with Product and Engineering on new product features, data usage, AI/ML initiatives, and regulatory considerations.
- Advise on data protection, cybersecurity, and cross‑border data transfer issues (GDPR and other global regimes).
- Support privacy compliance frameworks, DPIAs, and data governance processes.
Risk, Governance & Compliance
- Provide pragmatic advice on legal and regulatory risk across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support internal policies, governance requirements and compliance programmes.
- Assist with IP protection, trademarks, open‑source licensing and confidentiality matters.
Business Partnering
- Work closely with senior leadership, providing commercially aligned legal advice.
- Build strong relationships across Sales, Operations, Finance, HR and Technology teams.
- Deliver training to the business on legal and contractual best practice.
Leadership & Project Work
- Support the General Counsel with strategic legal initiatives.
- Mentor junior members of the team (where applicable).
- Drive continuous improvement, legal operations, tooling and process optimisation.
About You
Essential
- Qualified solicitor in Scotland, England & Wales, or another common‑law jurisdiction.
- 5–8+ PQE (although all levels will be considered based on experience).
- Strong background in commercial/technology law gained in‑house or at a reputable private practice firm.
- Proven experience negotiating complex commercial and data/technology agreements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical teams.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver pragmatic, solutions‑focused advice.
Desirable
- Experience in SaaS, data, analytics, AI, cloud, digital platforms or enterprise technology.
- Familiarity with privacy frameworks (GDPR, ePrivacy, global privacy regimes).
- Exposure to legal operations, contract lifecycle management or process optimisation.
