Location: Watford Campus WD17 3EZSalary: From *GBP*18,495.65 (unqualified) – *GBP*22,517.63 (qualified Level 5 teaching and above). Depending on qualifications and expertise. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a broad range of photography skills to predominantly teach on our successful UAL Level 2 and 3 Photography programmes, with the potential to contribute across other Art & Design provision where appropriate. You will deliver both industry-relevant practical skills and creative knowledge to support and inspire our ambitious learners.
Candidates should have strong knowledge and practical experience within contemporary photography practice and be proficient in relevant industry-standard software, ideally including Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Lightroom, as these are integral to course delivery.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate competence across a range of creative and technical photography processes, including but not limited to:
- Digital Photography Techniques
- Studio Lighting and Location Photography
- Image Editing and Post-Production
- Camera Operation and Technical Settings
- Visual Communication and Storytelling
- Contemporary and Historical Photography Practice
- Presentation, Portfolio and Exhibition Skills
- Creative Research and Concept Development
Experience or knowledge in areas such as moving image, digital media, darkroom processes, alternative photographic techniques, or commercial photography would also be advantageous.
These skills will not only enhance our learners academic journey but also prepare them for progression into Higher Education and employment within the creative industries.
The successful candidate will be positive, enthusiastic, resilient, and eager to contribute to the continued development of our photography provision. You will be able to demonstrate an adaptive and flexible teaching style, supporting and stretching a diverse range of learners to achieve their full potential.
Teaching experience and relevant qualifications are desirable; however, we are keen to hear from applicants with strong industry experience and the right skills who are willing to engage in professional and pedagogical development.
It is essential that our curriculum reflects current industry practices, and you will play a key role in driving course development to ensure programmes remain relevant, innovative, and aligned to contemporary photography and creative industry expectations. You should also be confident in providing prompt, accurate, and detailed assessment and feedback to students at key stages throughout the academic year.
This role is 22 hours per week (0.6 FTE) and is based at our Watford Campus.
