37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Monday to Thursday: 07:45 to 16:30
Friday: 07:45 to 12:15 (early finish)
The Company
We are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established engineering business based in Cheshire. This is a family run organisation with a strong reputation, modern equipment, and a genuinely supportive working environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be part of a skilled engineering team responsible for the assembly, disassembly and testing of bespoke machinery.
This is a hands-on role involving the build of complex mechanical systems from engineering drawings, with occasional involvement in on site installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and build mechanical components and complex units from engineering drawings
- Align materials and fit parts to tight tolerances
- Select and modify components based on measurements and specifications
- Carry out mechanical fitting work including drilling, tapping and adjustments
- Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely
- Support installations on customer sites when required, including occasional travel
About You
- Time served Mechanical Engineering qualification, Level 3 or equivalent
- Strong background in mechanical fitting, not just basic assembly
- Experience working with tolerances, measurements and component adjustments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Hands on bench experience including drilling, tapping, lathes and milling
- Knowledge of measuring equipment and fitting processes
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Team player with a proactive approach
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
Desirable
- Experience with pneumatics
- Flexibility to support occasional installations, including potential international travel
