Job Summary
Band 7 specialist role delivering 48‑hour post‑discharge asthma reviews for children and young people with asthma or wheeze. The role ensures recovery is progressing, provides evidence‑based education to families, and establishes appropriate safety netting. It plays a key part in improving the quality and consistency of asthma care across the service.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 48‑hour post‑discharge reviews for children admitted with asthma or wheeze.
- Ensure recovery is progressing and families receive high‑quality, evidence‑based education.
- Implement, audit and evaluate the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma in collaboration with the paediatric respiratory team.
- Lead the establishment of a new 48‑hour asthma discharge review service.
- Design, manage and evaluate quality improvement projects within an NHS setting.
- Work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
- Act as a role model for best practice in paediatric asthma management.
Qualifications
- Evidence of experience implementing and evaluating quality improvement projects in an NHS organisation.
- Independent project management skills, including planning, delivery and evaluation.
- Experience gained in primary or secondary care with patients of any age group.
- Strong teamwork skills and confidence to work autonomously.
- Commitment to high standards of care for children, young people and their families.
