Senior Engineer – Roads (Bristol)

WSP is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Engineer to join the Roads team based in Bristol.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development of highway designs for a diverse range of sectors, clients and projects through all stages of the project life cycle.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements.
  • Providing support to Project Managers within the design team in planning, programming, technical input to pricing of project briefs, proposals, deliverables and cost estimation.
  • Checking, certifying and authorising design documents, approvals and reports.
  • Being active on several varied multi‑disciplinary project/client accounts.
  • Coordinating engineering and technician resources to deliver work packages.
  • Collaborating with clients, key stakeholders and internal teams to deliver schemes and projects.
  • Supporting projects with site supervision, monitoring contractor compliance and ensuring works align with the Works Information.
  • Providing guidance and support to technical staff of various grades.
  • Contributing to the development of the team’s internal knowledge base and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • A passion for design and developing innovative solutions.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent within a highway design role.
  • Working towards IEng or CEng status with a professional institute; professional qualifications are advantageous.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of highway design and/or drainage systems at various stages of the project life cycle.
  • Experience in road geometry, roundabouts, junctions, inclusive active travel, highway drainage systems, road restraint systems, traffic signage and road marking design.
  • Knowledge of design codes such as the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD and local authority guidance.
