Job Description:

Brewood School, located in Deal, Kent, serves pupils aged 11‑18 with a range of special educational needs (SEN) including SLCN, autism, ADHD, PDA, and SEMH. The school operates across two sites: Mill Hill (upper school KS4‑KS5) and London Road (lower school KS3).

As an Assistant Headteacher, you will work as a member of the senior leadership team to achieve the highest standards for pupils, implement policies and procedures, and support the Headteacher in the day‑to‑day running of the school.

Minimum Requirements

  • QTS or QTLS qualification
  • Similar senior leadership (SLT) experience in an SEN environment
  • Up‑to‑date OFSTED knowledge and understanding of the SEN education sector and desired outcomes
  • Up‑to‑date safeguarding and child‑protection qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • Strategically oversee the school’s resources to support the achievement of educational objectives and priorities effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the headteacher to clearly articulate, disseminate, ensure understanding of, and effectively implement the school’s vision among all stakeholders.
  • Prioritise pupil achievement, safety, and well‑being as the core focus of all school activities.
  • Foster a culture of challenge and support to empower every student to succeed and actively engage in their learning journey.
  • Articulate and uphold high expectations by setting ambitious targets for the entire school community.
