The Role
As the Senior Sustainability Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our sustainability strategy. You will be responsible for overseeing both social and environmental initiatives, ensuring that our business operations align with environmental, social responsibility standards and associated governance and reporting responsibilities.

What you’ll be doing
- Develop and implement the company’s holistic sustainability strategy in alignment with our overall sustainability goals and values
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to integrate sustainability principles into all aspects of the business.
- Lead initiatives to enhance the social impact of our business, focusing on fair labour practices, diversity, equity, and inclusion in our value chain
- Work with the Head of Sourcing, Sustainability and Quality to ensure all stakeholders including C‑suite, Board and investor relations are well informed on growing ESG risks, regulations and standards.
- Work closely with Finance to ensure climate‑related financial disclosures are appropriately made
- Takes a leading role in the development of enhanced platforms and systems
- Leads remedial / crisis management when required with regard to social non‑compliance or local incidents.
- Collaborate with suppliers and partners to ensure ethical sourcing and fair working conditions throughout the supply chain.
- Complete the annual greenhouse gas emissions reporting for the company, working with external partners to verify and validate data as well as to continuously increase granularity and accuracy of data.
- Oversee the development and execution of environmental sustainability programs, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction.
- Explore and implement circular economy principles to minimize environmental impact.
- Stay abreast of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance.
- Prepare and submit sustainability reports, communicating progress and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and NGOs, to build strong partnerships and foster a sustainability‑focused culture.
- Represent New Look at industry initiatives as our subject‑matter expert.
- Stay informed about emerging sustainability trends and technologies, integrating innovative solutions into our sustainability initiatives.
- Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.
- Directly manage and develop the sustainability manager and junior sustainability manager
- Manage effective training and communication (website, newsletters, presentations) for our BMD and Technical teams in our Social Sustainability agenda in line with our strategy
Who you are
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial environment with working knowledge of human rights, sustainability, the SDGs and associated international standards
- Strong knowledge of environmental impacts and global human rights issues
- Experience completing carbon emission calculations
- Have managed/mentored/coached a team in a previous role
- Previous experience within a sustainability role, ideally within a fashion retailer or sustainability consultancy or NGO
- Preferred experience of conducting / shadowing audits across different methodologies
- Ability to comprehend complex information and determine a decision
- A strong network which can be leveraged
