Operations Manager – Transport Hub (Children's Services)
Location: Perceval House
Office Presence: Minimum 2 days per week
Contract: 3 months initial (likely extension)

Rate: £28.60 PAYE | £38.19 Umbrella
About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join a busy, high-impact Transport Hub within Children's Services. This is a pivotal role focused on ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of transport services to children and vulnerable adults.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership, managing day-to-day operations and driving continuous service improvement while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding and customer care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of a fast‑paced transport service
- Line manage staff and coordinate large‑scale frontline teams, including transport officers and passenger assistants
- Support commissioning activities including procurement, contract management, and provider negotiations
- Ensure safeguarding, compliance, and health & safety standards are consistently met
- Drive service improvements through performance monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
- Act as deputy to the Head of Passenger Transport when required
What We're Looking For
- Operations Management experience within a complex, high‑volume service
- Strong line management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
- Experience within commissioning, procurement, or contract management environments
Ideal Candidate
- Experienced working at a senior level within a public sector or similar environment
- Confident managing competing priorities in a demanding frontline service
- Skilled communicator able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
- Strong understanding of compliance, safeguarding, and service delivery standards
