Job Summary

Assists with supervising and coordinating the administrative and operational activities in the assigned areas; collaborates with the interprofessional team to ensure safe and effective care delivery while promoting a culture of excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Leads a team of nurses and clinical support.
  • Supports managers/directors on larger units.
  • Performs managerial responsibilities 80% of the time; works on ground support for frontline staff and assists in direct patient care as needed.
  • Assists manager/director in planning and supervision of unit/department goals and objectives.
  • Assists with managers/directors in planning and maintaining the department’s readiness for regulatory surveyors.
  • Serves as a professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource.
  • Responsible for personal and professional growth as well as fostering an environment where interdisciplinary team members can contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally.
  • Responsible for modeling core culture and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and implement high‑reliability principles.
  • Facilitates implementation of change management, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives in assigned areas.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the organization and adheres to BSMH policies.
  • BSMH nurses practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (required)

Required Licensing & Certifications

  • Current RN license in the state of employment or covered by compact (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must be obtained from an approved source prior to entering patient care)
  • Unit‑specific certifications (preferred): PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, National Board Certification, or Nurse Executive Certification.

Experience

  • 2 years nursing experience with at least 1 year of clinical experience in the acuity level of the desired area (preferred)
  • Charge nurse or management experience (preferred)
