Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced educator RN or AHP to join our Education Team within the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit (UEC) at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching within a clinical setting such as Acute Medicine, ITU, or ED, or in a clinical teaching environment.
- Simulation experience around patient safety, pathways, clinical skills and equipment training.
- Understanding of Human Factors.
- PGCE or willingness to undertake PGCE within the first 12 to 18 months of starting the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Join an existing team and be responsible for the clinical training and development of all nursing and healthcare staff.
- Conduct in‑situ simulation on a regular basis.
- Set up study days for acutely ill patients, sepsis, paediatrics, CBRN, major incident and mandatory training.
- Support newly qualified nursing staff during their 4‑week induction and preceptorship, contributing to workforce development.
- Undertake monthly report writing and data collection for the Matron Lead and maintain a database for training.
- Produce the Education strategy for the next 2 years, work against it and submit the yearly Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for staff development alongside the Trust Education Lead.
- Implement the education strategy for the emergency care setting, providing supervision in practice and delivering training.
- Establish training requirements to ensure the necessary workforce skill mix and link the strategy with the organisation’s overall education strategy.
- Collaborate closely with lead nurse managers, education providers, and higher education institutes (HEIs) to support learners in the ED.
- Manage, alongside other Band 7 educators, a small group of nurse educators to deliver high quality education across the division.
- Build working relationships with AMU and ED to ensure educational and clinical standards across the care group.
- Show experience in leadership and education and maintain a track record of clinical education of others.
