Job Description:

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide medicines expertise and support to ensure that clinical trials within the Trust are set up and conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and all other relevant medicines regulations and ethical requirements.

The postholder will be responsible for leading an efficient pharmacy clinical trials service across a range of commercial and non-commercial research studies from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Portfolio, working with the local clinical study teams, investigators and CRDC colleagues, the post‑holder will be responsible for delivering clinical trials pharmacy services to patients enrolled in clinical research studies in specialties including mental health, dementias & neurodegeneration, neurological disorders and community physical health services.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in pharmacy or equivalent experience
  • Registered with the GPhC
  • Certificate/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent

Experience

  • Significant post registration clinical experience
  • Extensive experience of working within NHS
  • Significant experience of working with service users in a patient facing role.
  • Previous experience working within a clinical research environment
  • Experience in liaising with a variety of stakeholders – service users and carers, researchers, clinical and non‑clinical staff at all levels with varying levels of research expertise
  • Previous experience working within a clinical research environment

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of research practices, methodologies, clinical trials delivery and the overall research agenda in the NHS
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively within a complex regulatory environment
  • Self‑motivation and ability to motivate others
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workload alone and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral, of specialist clinical information

Other Requirements

  • Able and willing to travel independently across all trust sites and SL CRDC sites as per the needs of the service
  • Enthusiastic, professional, and accountable
