Join our multidisciplinary team as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (Mat cover-fixed term) and play a vital role in improving lives through high‑quality psychological care. In this rewarding role you will assess, formulate and deliver evidence‑based interventions for individuals across the lifespan, supporting people with a diverse range of mental health and cognitive needs.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues, service users and carers to develop personalised care plans that promote independence, dignity and recovery, while championing a strong psychological perspective within teams. This position offers opportunities to influence service development, contribute to teaching and supervision, and engage in clinical audit and research. You will also have opportunities to connect with psychologists across the Trust and the University of Surrey Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Programme, supporting and mentoring assistant psychologists and trainees, helping to build capability across the workforce.
Main duties of the job
To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care, maintaining high standards of care in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines, Trust policies and procedures. To act within the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and to implement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection policies, procedures and legislation.
To carry out comprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments and formulation, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of psychology interventions and consultations to support people with specific needs.
To actively involve people in developing and agreeing their own care plan, advocacy and ensuring proper regard for their dignity, choice, self‑esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.
To work creatively to adapt verbal and written communication to meet the needs of people who use our services.
To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans.

Person specification
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
- HCPC registration
Experience
- Experience of working with people from across the lifespan with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles
- Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic models
- Experience working with people with learning disabilities within a positive behaviour support framework
