This post is for applicants who have completed stage 1 Anaesthesia training and is ideal for those between CT and higher anaesthesia/ICM training. We welcome applicants currently in the process of applying for a training post in anaesthesia/ICM.

Main duties of the job

  • The post will meet the increasing demand for anaesthetic and Critical Care services within the Trust, combining service lists, teaching lists and out of hours.
  • On-call commitment includes twilight shifts at Weston General Hospital, with flexibility between anaesthesia and critical care teams.

Person specification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Able to assess, resuscitate and stabilise acutely sick patients
  • Able to participate as key member of cardiac arrest team with advanced airway skills
  • Demonstrates good clinical judgement
  • Understands audit and governance processes
  • Completed specialist skills courses (e.g. difficult airways, advanced life support)
  • Able to anaesthetise and care for complex cases with appropriate supervision
  • Designed and/or completed audits

Qualifications and Training

  • Registered with General Medical Council (UK)
  • Completed stage 1 training in Anaesthesia
  • FRCA (Part 1) or equivalent
  • Other membership, fellowship or diplomas
  • Previous experience of working in the British Healthcare system (not observing)
