Up to £55,000 + package

A specialist engineering organisation developing complex electronic systems for high-reliability applications is establishing a dedicated NPI function within Engineering. This role bridges R&D and manufacturing, ensuring products are designed for scalable, repeatable production.

You’ll take ownership of transitioning electronics products from prototype into production, working closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams.

The focus is on ensuring PCB designs are manufacturable, testable, and optimised for efficient assembly, while embedding DFM, DFA, and DFT principles early in the design cycle. You’ll also support improvements to production test systems to increase throughput and improve coverage.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Solid understanding of DFM, DFA, and DFT
  • Strong PCB design experience (e.g. Altium)
  • Experience taking products from prototype to production
  • Knowledge of PCB assembly and production test methods
  • Experience producing technical documentation and working with change control systems
  • Comfortable working across engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Ability to ensure PCB designs are production-ready using DFMEA to identify risks early
  • Experience improving manufacturability and production efficiency
  • Experience working with PCB suppliers to align design with manufacturing capability
  • Ability to define test strategies and support production test development
  • Experience supporting NPI builds, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Track record of improving test processes, automation, and build efficiency
  • Experience contributing to engineering standards and manufacturing processes

Desirable Experience

  • Microcontrollers, analogue, and power supply design
  • USB or video standards
  • Automation tools (C\#, C++, LabVIEW)
  • ISO9001 or regulated manufacturing environments

Suited to

Hands‑on, practical engineer with strong communication skills. Comfortable working between design and production, with a focus on improving processes and manufacturing outcomes.
