About the Estate

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Maintenance Manager to join a beautifully maintained private estate in Swallowfield, Berkshire. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity supporting the day‑to‑day running and upkeep of a mixed‑use estate comprising a Grade I listed stately home, residential properties, agricultural spaces, and a livery yard.

Working closely with the Deputy Estate Manager, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the estate to an exceptional standard while helping ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. This is a long‑term opportunity for someone practical, proactive, and proud of delivering high‑quality work.

The Role

This is a broad and varied role suited to someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of estate maintenance and management. You’ll take responsibility for routine repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and responding efficiently to issues across the estate as they arise.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll carry out a range of maintenance tasks which may include: basic decorating, basic plumbing, minor repairs, carpentry, and the upkeep of external areas such as pathways, gutters, and wider estate infrastructure.

You’ll also coordinate and oversee contractors where specialist support is required, obtaining quotations and ensuring works are delivered to a high standard and with good value in mind.

Alongside the practical elements of the role, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider estate team, support ongoing improvement projects, liaise professionally with tenants and representatives, maintain accurate records, and ensure all works are completed safely and in line with current regulations.

There will also be an element of out‑of‑hours availability to respond to emergency maintenance issues when required.

  • Experience working with listed or heritage buildings
  • A professional, friendly, and discreet manner
  • A full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

What’s on Offer

If you’re looking for a rewarding live‑in role where no two days are the same and you enjoy taking ownership of maintaining exceptional properties, we’d love to hear from you!
