Technical Author

Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Author to join a well-established aerospace organisation. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in technical documentation and military aviation experience.

Following an initial probationary period completed fully onsite, the role will transition to a hybrid working model. SC clearance is desirable, but the client is willing to clear individuals.

Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain high-quality aerospace technical documentation
• Author and update manuals in accordance with industry and military standards
• Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure technical accuracy
• Interpret complex engineering data and convert it into clear documentation
• Ensure compliance with aerospace documentation standards and customer requirements
• Support continuous improvement of documentation processes and systems

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical authoring
• Strong technical documentation background within aerospace or defence environments
• Experience using FrameMaker
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail
• Knowledge of:
• AVP70
• ATA100 / ATA i2200
• ASD S1000D
• SGML
• XML
• Military background, ideally RAF or Fleet Air Arm
• Previous experience within aerospace maintenance or defence programmes
• Existing SC Clearance
• 2 days worked from home (After 6 months)
