Contract Automation QA Engineer (Playwright)

Ocho is working with a global technology organisation to bring on a Contract Automation QA Engineer to play a key role in evolving their automation capability.

You’ll join an established engineering team focused on building out a robust, scalable automation framework, helping to improve overall product quality and delivery efficiency. This contract sits outside IR35 and offers a largely remote setup with occasional on‑site collaboration when required.

We’ve already placed into this team and continue to support their growth, giving you strong visibility on the environment and onboarding process.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance automation frameworks using Playwright
• Build and maintain UI and API automated test suites
• Work alongside engineering and product teams to embed quality across the development lifecycle
• Increase automation coverage and reduce manual testing overhead
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Investigate, log and track issues through to resolution

Person We Are Looking For

• Solid background in automation testing within modern software environments
• Hands‑on experience with Playwright is essential
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills
• Good understanding of API testing approaches
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and tooling
• Self‑sufficient and comfortable working in a delivery‑focused Agile team

Contract Details

• Outside IR35
• Strong day rate on offer
• Mostly remote role with occasional Belfast‑based collaboration
• Initial 6‑month engagement with likelihood of extension
