Position Summary

As a Quality Engineer you will play a key role supporting product and process quality across the Dundee facility while developing into a future Quality System Engineer role. This position is ideal for a Quality professional with a strong engineering and manufacturing background who is interested in growing their expertise in Quality Management System (QMS) and auditing. The successful candidate will initially support Quality activities across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain functions, while receiving structured training and development in Quality Systems, certifications, and audits, and regulatory compliance. DFS is certified to several international standards including ISO 9001, ATEX, MID, and UL. Over time, the Quality Engineer will gain exposure to working with certification bodies, supporting audits, and maintaining compliance with national and international standards and legislation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is motivated to develop into a Quality System leadership position within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Working with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, etc.) to ensure quality requirements are understood and achieved
  • Supporting internal and external audit activities and developing auditing capability through training
  • Assisting with the maintenance of quality procedures, records, and document control systems
  • Participating in investigations of non‑conformances and supporting corrective and preventive actions
  • Performing root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, A3, and 8D
  • Supporting risk management and change control activities
  • Monitoring quality metrics and helping drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting customer quality requirements and audit preparation activities
  • Developing knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements including ISO9001, ATEX, MID, and UL
  • Supporting training and compliance activities across the business
  • Collaborating with Operations and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing quality performance
  • Providing support across compliance and quality disciplines as required
  • Staying informed on industry trends, standards, and best practices

Essential Criteria

  • Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience working in a Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Quality role
  • Good practical knowledge of quality standards and manufacturing quality processes
  • Understanding of ISO9001 principles (lead auditor certification desirable but not essential)
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and familiarity with Lean tools such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, A3, and 8D
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong team‑working and cross‑functional collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated willingness and interest in developing into a Quality Systems‑focused role
  • Previous experience supporting or participating in audits
  • Experience within regulated manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to Quality Management Systems and document control processes
  • Internal or Lead Auditor training/certification
