Role

The Surveyor Manager will also manage the team and provide cross service support as necessary. The postholder will also be expected to handle their own caseload. The role holder will be responsible for providing advice on adaptations, designing and specifying solutions, commissioning work, monitoring quality of work and providing technical advice to other professionals. The role holder will manage their own caseload and work independently utilising best practice and technical knowledge to meet the demands of service users. The ability to be creative and solve problems on the spot is essential as this skill will be required daily.

Responsibilities

  • To provide the technical, professional lead for the Home Improvement Agency functions carried out by the team. This will include delivery of projects and other casework.
  • To take responsibility for reactive and proactive elements of the team’s work areas and work with team members to develop ideas and effective working practices.
  • Supervising and supporting team members to ensure high performance and excellent customer service and providing managerial support to the HIA Manager.
  • To provide residents and Home Improvement Agency clients with a professional, flexible and safe adaptations service to meet their needs.
  • To ensure that existing housing in Oxfordshire is fit for purpose and that vulnerable people, predominantly home owners, are able to continue living independently as long as possible.
  • To provide technical and process support in the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants and other grants and loans.
  • To take the technical lead in the relevant reactive and programmed elements of the team’s work and provide professional advice to colleagues.
  • To effectively manage personal casework and projects on accordance with the Service’s procedures.
  • To provide expert technical and professional advice and support to the Team Manager on relevant work areas in the HIA Team and to contribute to service project teams as required.
  • To stand in as necessary to provide managerial support in the absence of a Team Manager in the RS&CS Service.
  • To develop and maintain effective links and working relationships with relevant internal and external partners.
  • To provide support to the service area on delivery of the Corporate and service plans using appropriate organisational tools, policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with health care professionals to provide cost effective disabled adaptations
  • Provide a point of contact for disabled and other grant and loan clients and advise on general grant and loan procedures and policies (by personal visits to the client’s home).
  • Undertake initial site visits as directed, either independently, or with Occupational Therapists (and other support agencies as required), to assess suitability of property for adaptation, repair and improvements.
