Overview

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our growing team in Leicester. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive estimates for a variety of structural steel projects across commercial, industrial, and fabrication sectors.

Salary and Contract

Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to provide accurate pricing.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain quotes and clarify project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the design, production, and project management teams to ensure estimates are practical and buildable.
• Maintain and update cost databases, pricing models, and standard estimating procedures.
• Assist with tender submissions and post-tender queries.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a structural steel estimator, ideally within fabrication or construction.
• Strong understanding of structural steel materials, fabrication processes, and construction techniques.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office (Excel, Word).
