People Development Partner – Early Careers

Nottingham – England

About This Opportunity

With a 150-year heritage behind it, Gleeds stands as a forward-thinking and highly regarded name in construction consultancy—combining deep expertise with bold ambition.

We’re now looking for a People Development Partner – Early Careers to join our Nottingham team. This is an opportunity to shape the future of talent at Gleeds: designing and delivering engaging early careers programmes that inspire, develop, and elevate the next generation.

You’ll create experiences that truly resonate, ensuring every early career professional feels supported, challenged, and set up to succeed—while playing a pivotal role in strengthening our long‑term talent pipeline and bringing our people strategy to life.

Responsibilities

  • Early career programme ownership and design: act as programme owner for Gleeds early career development portfolio; design, structure and evolve programmes aligned to business needs.
  • Design, manage and deliver structured early career programmes, including the Construct Graduate Programme, early career apprenticeship programmes and professional qualification pathways.
  • Design and deliver soft skills capability within early career programmes (communication, presentation skills, stakeholder management, professional behaviours and effectiveness in client‑facing environments).
  • Own the design and governance of programme structures including toolkits, templates, internships, placements and rotational experiences.
  • Programme review, evaluation and continuous improvement. Take responsibility for the ongoing review and development of early career programmes, review content and learner experience, assess effectiveness through feedback, outcomes and data and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: work proactively with Early Careers Talent Acquisition to ensure high-quality onboarding; with the Growth and Skills Levy; co‑design content; support professional qualification and progression. Collaborate across the wider People team; provide People Development support to early‑career groups, cohorts and networks.
  • Embed key people development frameworks (MyCheck‑ins, career conversations, FIR principles, Gleeds approach) consistently across programmes.
  • Manage queries related to early career programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider People Development team on development projects and with the wider People Team on people projects.
  • Focus on UK early careers and share good practice with other regions to support global people development.
  • This role focuses on the design, delivery and continuous improvement of early career development programmes and experiences. It does not involve line management or day‑to‑day management of early career employees.

Benefits

  • Opportunities to develop and grow your career.
  • A contributory pension scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Our global travel scholarship programme.
  • Flexible working arrangements.

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

  • Proven experience in learning and development.
  • Proven track record in delivering the whole learning cycle – needs analysis, design, delivery and evaluation – ideally within Early Careers.
  • Understanding of placement, internship, apprenticeship, graduate and professional accreditation pathways.
  • Experience of working with the Growth and Skills Levy.
  • Ability to create structured development content, toolkits and guidance for use across the business.
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Highly organised, quality focused and able to manage multiple programmes simultaneously.
  • Self‑motivated, team player with analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree educated.
  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) preferred.
